On December of 2003, Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon announced his Gaza Pullout plan. In the summer of 2005 his plan became realty.

Seventeen Gush Qatif settlements and over 8,500 Israeli settlers were evicted from the Gaza Strip during Israel's disengagement.

40 thousand Israeli policemen and soldiers handed out eviction notices to the Gaza settlers of the past 30 years, and encountered defiant, but non-violent, resistance.
